Daisy and Ben's relaxed and intimate garden wedding ceremony

Updated: Nov 12

Daisy and Ben’s relaxed and intimate garden wedding ceremony was held at their home near Penryn on Saturday 6 August 2022

…. And it was a heartfelt, intimate and fun celebration, the bringing together of two families, in a wedding set among fields of gold on a memorably hot summer’s day.

Daisy was the last of three sisters to be married at the family home – and it was her Mum who sought us out initially, keen to find the right person to lead the celebrations at their farmhouse, where Daisy and Ben had recently completed building their very own dream home. With distant views of the sea, there was plenty of space for the ceremony and lots of guests, along with an open air bar, a beautifully decorated marquee for the reception and lots of areas for outdoor games, chilling, chatting – and later on, dancing!

It was great fun getting to know Ben and Daisy in the lead-up to their big day; our conversations were full of entertaining stories and laughter, and at one point, even a few tears from Daisy who feeling rather emotional at the thought of their wedding day...

Writing their ceremony was a delight, full of beautiful anecdotes of their time together, and lots of joyful moments to reflect on. On sending through their first draft, Daisy replied:

Lisa this is AMAZING! Thank you so much we love it already! We will have a proper look through over the weekend but just wanted to say a massive thank you already in the meantime x

So with just readings and vows to add, we all felt in a really good place! When Ben and Daisy’s big day arrived, it was hot, hot, hot without a cloud in the sky and just the whisper of a breeze – the perfect day for an outdoor wedding celebration. It was so lovely to meet Daisy’s bridal crew as they helped the gorgeous bride get ready, including Daisy’s Mum Sal, sisters (and bridesmaids) Ella and Rosie, and friends and bridesmaids Tash, Laura, Rosa, and Charlotte. Meanwhile, Ben was being organised by his own crew of best man Tom and best woman Georgia.

Guitarist, cellist and vocal duo ‘String of Roses’ welcomed and entertained everyone while we awaited the entrance of the bridal party – the bridesmaids emerged first, hand-in-hand, just about holding it together when the duo played “How long will I love you”... Daisy then entered looking beyond radiant, with her Mum and Dad either side of her.

Over 100 guests listened as we shared the story of how Daisy and Ben first met nine years ago on a night out as students at Brighton Uni, followed by memories of their adventures and experiences since that day. Ben’s marriage proposal was a particular high point – remembering how a rather disaster struck skiing holiday culminated in a beautifully planned proposal which Daisy had been expecting for some time – but not at the top of a mountain!

There were also two bespoke readings as part of the ceremony – the first by bridesmaid Charlotte, who had written a piece loosely based on All I Know About Love by Neil Gaiman, which went down a storm, and then the second by bridesmaid and sister Ella, who’d created a beautiful, fun and cleverly rhyming poem based on how perfect Daisy and Ben were for each other. We love to see the reaction to original pieces – there were tears and laughter in equal measure.

There were also some surprises that prompted a few more tears, in the form of some wonderfully personal marriage vows (primary school teacher Daisy was especially on form – although she admitted she had written these and saved them on her phone as soon as they got engaged two years earlier!). The rings were presented by best woman Georgia (which spoke volumes about best man Tim....), the applause was loud and the confetti was thrown with much abandon. What an amazing day!

A few days later, we received this lovely email from Daisy’s Mum and Dad:

Dear Lisa, thank you so much for being part of our day. Many people have asked me if you were a family friend – it felt like you knew our family and particularly Daisy and Ben so well. The day was everything we hoped for and more – and you were a big part of that feeling.

(It always makes us a little misty-eyed when Mums and Dads email us – we completely understand how much this day means to them!)

And Daisy and Ben wrote this kind review for us:

Lisa was amazing to work from start to finish. She got to know us so well and wrote the most perfect ceremony which completely reflected us as a couple. I had always thought as a bride I would want to get the ceremony over and done with in order to start the dancing. But the ceremony turned into our favourite part of the day! Lisa was so helpful – a naturally warm and welcoming person who clearly takes great pride in what she does. And does it incredibly well. Thank you so much for making our day just as we wanted and more.

Thank YOU Daisy and Ben – you were SUCH a pleasure and so much fun to work with, we’re so glad you had a wonderful day. And thank you to Patrick Straub for the photos which bring back happy memories of this special day.
