Real life wedding: Tori and Alex

Updated: Aug 17, 2021

Tori and Alex’s wedding celebration was at Cuckoo Down on Saturday 26 June 2021...

…. part of a wonderfully family friendly, relaxed glamping weekend!

Tori and Alex wanted an outdoorsy, chilled out, family oriented ceremony which reflected their personalities and lifestyles – and that’s exactly what they got!

Set at the magical Cuckoo Down Farm glamping site in East Devon, the venue offered all the comforts of home, alongside 30 acres of peaceful meadows and a 3 acre oak and bluebell wood with a pretty stream running through it, which would be the location for the ceremony.

Tori, Alex and young son Zac simply love being outdoors! All of them are happiest when exploring and enjoying the natural world, whether that’s walking, hiking, camping or getting away for trips in their van with gorgeous Flo the dog – being in the open air for their ceremony was super-important to them.

We developed their ceremony over a period of months to include many different elements to make it completely unique and personal to them. Firstly, live music featured strongly, with Alex’s sister playing Pachelbel’s Canon in D minor as the bridal party arrived, and Alex and his band playing Warmness on the Soul for Tori towards the end of the ceremony. As they could not be there in person, Tori’s grandparents delivered a reading of 1 Corinthians 13 by video, and this was played to guests on a large screen. The ceremony was also broadcast via Zoom for friends and family around the world!

Other beautiful readings were provided by Tori’s bridesmaids and close friends – all written especially for the day. A handtying with three ribbons was performed by Tori’s mum, Alex’s Dad and young Zac, representing the joining of the families together. Tori and Alex then read the vows they had written themselves to one another – and after the exchange of rings, the truly dreamy ceremony was complete.

Of course nothing ever goes quite to plan! We watched the weather forecast nervously in advance, as one day rain was forecast, the next it was back to dry, the next rain – argh! On the day. Alex was incredibly nervous, not helped by Tori exercising her prerogative to be half an hour late! And it must be said, Tori cried A LOT curing the ceremony! In fact, Zac was probably the calmest of all three! But the sun shone down upon everyone, and everyone agreed that this ceremony was a perfect reflection of Tori and Alex’s relationship.

This ceremony was a collaboration between Lisa and Caroline, with Lisa writing and Caroline delivering, which worked incredibly well, as both of us got to know the couple and felt much invested throughout! Tori said to us afterwards:

It was honestly perfect! All of our guests commented on the ceremony, how suited to us it was, as well as being completely unique! So thank you so much for helping us pull it off.
